Club update and training plans – Saturday 1st October 2016

Happy October Everyone!!!

Well it’s officially autumn because the Berinsfield lake has closed open water swimming for the year (Unless you are a true nutter and want to join their winter Cold Water Swim Squad!) and Tri season is over … !!!

But we still have the Oxford Half and the Abingdon Marathon and the Santa Sprint to look forward too!!

Congratulations Steve B, Dave R and Sean at the Carterton Triathlon last weekend. Sean smashed his first ever Sprint Tri and both Dave and Steve were amazing in the Olympic Distance…. with Steve coming 2nd in age group and Dave coming 5th in his!

Congratulations to Jo, Steve and Ella P in the Witney club swimming championships.  Steve is still competing this weekend – so good luck and can’t wait to see the results!

Talking of pool swimming – it is that time of year to head back to the swimming pool – thank you Steve for sending the email about the Witney Masters. (email Steve B for more info on this)…

I would also like to suggest we start a weekly jaunt to one of the ‘Better’ pools – for lane swimming.. it is much more fun going with others!!   Can I suggest the 8.30 – 9.30pm Sunday evening slot at Witney pool again this year? (alternatively there is a morning slot from 8am on Sundays?) – I’d like to start going again each week – so please do let me know your preferences!

Dates for Your Diaries:

October 9th: Oxford Half.  There is still space available in Steve’s Bongo (the Trihard bus!) and don’t forget to book yourself on the park and Ride bus if you haven’t already!

October 23rd Abingdon Marathon – If you’re not competing.. then why not join me in the Market Square for a coffee to whoop the Trihards through!? – If it’s a sunny morning I may even cycle there?!

November 18th. Awards night and end of season Party!  Standlake (Oxford Downs) Cricket clubhouse. 6.30pm. Families welcome!

Thank you to our amazing website developers… Andy Goff and Graeme Coates and Jon Hardy!  They are making fantastic progress on the new look website .. which will be ready in the next month or so.. so watch this space!  IN the meantime please do check out the old website which is still in operation!!!  Steve has put a calendar on the front page so you can keep up to date with training and events! (Training plans are on the forum as usual)

IN addition, the training plans for the week ahead are at the end of this email – so hope to see you all soon!
