Club Update and training Plans for the week of Saturday 11 March

Firstly in the news this week – It’s The Bath Half on Sunday!  So Good luck to Celina, Laura and Abdul.  We hope you have a fabulous day.

Secondly, in event news: I have entered a TriHard team into the Blenheim 7k.   Apologies that it does clash with the Cotswold Sprint Tri on the 7th May. But if you don’t fancy a triathlon quite yet, then this one is for you:

This event is a 7km run in the grounds of Blenheim Palace with a Kids 1 mile run.  Junior runners can enter the 7k run if they are accompanied by an adult. The junior 1 mile run is timed and all entrants get a medal at the end (runners in the 1 mile do not need to be accompanied by an adult!).

The cost to enter the 7k is £16.50 (+ £2.51) and the 1 mile fun run is £10 (+ £1.52).  The cost of entry includes family entry into the palace ground for the day – so we hope to stay afterwards and enjoy a picnic.

I have set up a ‘Lower Windrush TriHard’ Team for the 7k run.    To enter please visit the 7k website (address below) and follow the ‘Click Here to Enter’ tabs.  Remember, if you are doing the 7k, please join the Lower Windrush TriHard Team.

http://www.blenheim7k.co.uk/

TriHard and TriKid Hoodies are available to purchase at Circuits this week and for the next few weeks.  Please note that I can order more if the size you would like is not available.  Adult Hoodies are £20 and Child sizes are £17.

Scroll down to see the week’s training plans.  Please note that, at the 7am Saturday run, Ella Viner will be doing more filming for the TriHard movie – so please wear triHard kit if you have it!

Finally, a reminder: Join the West Oxfordshire Sailing Club this month to enjoy a full season of open water swimming! Follow the link below to join the club.  The temp of the swimming lake is gradually creeping up and we will be starting group swims in April.

Club Update and Training Plans for the Week of Saturday 4th March

Happy March Everyone!

Time to get the running shoes and the swimming goggles out and start training for those Sprint triathlons in May! With only one week to go til the Bath Half Marathon training is well underway for some of you! Good luck to Abdul, Celina and Laura who are taking part next weekend.

Congratulations to our junior triHards who raced last weekend. Henry Purcell came third in an inter-school race down in Reading – and had his pedestal moment!  And well done to all who entered our own Junior fun run.  The younger children ran 1 mile and the older children ran 2 miles and everyone did brilliantly!

Big news this week is that it’s time to join the West Oxfordshire Sailing Club (WOSC) if you are interested in their facilities for Open Water Swimming.  In the past we have always used Berinsfield (Queensford Lake) for swimming.  Berinsfield is a larger operation with more safety at lakeside and options to join classes (you can pay as you go for £5 per swim or buy a season ticket for 10 swims at £40).  However it is a car journey away and only open for swimming three times per week as it is part of the Oxford WakeBoarding Club.  It opens for swimming on the 16th April.

Here in Standlake we can now swim in the smaller Lake at WOSC.  It provides a good 400m circuit… but the best bit is that you can swim when you like.  Water temperature is now just over 7 degrees.. so Steve and Sean will be in there soon!

I have linked you to both Berinsfield (Queensford lake) and WOSC below.. but we would like to encourage you to join the WOSC this year to support our local facility… the more openwater swimmers we have in this area the easier it will become to arrange group swims for safety and social!!!

Scroll down for the Training plans too – and I hope to see you all this week!
