Club Update and training Plans for the week of Saturday 27th May

The Triathlon season is ramping up and I hope you are all enjoying yourselves.. whatever you are doing!?

Last weekend it was Banbury triathlon and Steve B finished in 1 hour 13 minutes and came second in his age group… Emma finished in a more gentle 1 hour 28 minutes… it was a beautiful day, loads of fun and the usual friendly crowd.

This Weekend it is Westonbirt Triathlon on bank holiday Monday.  One of our favourites… with a pool swim in the Westonbirt Girls school, followed by a beautiful bike ride past the National Arboretum.  The run takes you round the school grounds where it’s also great to picnic.. so do come along to soak up the sun and have a picnic lunch!  Good luck all involved: Dave, Wai, Celina, Jon, Steve B, Emma, Andy G, Sean and Laura Purcell.. and Sarah B’s relay team.

… And it’s one week to go to Blenheim Triathlon and the Cotswold 113!

Please note that circuits is on as normal this evening in the Standlake Village Hall, but there will be no circuits in half term (friday 2nd June)

Message from Dave Rivers: ATTENTION TRIHARD TRAINIACS – anyone fancy doing the SLATEMAN in May next year?
I loved the event and (cant believe it was two years ago!) vowed to do it again, though not sure I’d enjoy it as much if I did it solo?
Theres an earlybird entry discount if entered before the end of this month….  (I am tempted Dave!)

Lastly a plea from the T-Series race team who are looking for anyone who would like to help marshal at one of their amazing ultra marathon events.  The ultra’s take place up the Thames path.. so not too far for us to travel to help them at a check point!  Please read their message below:

We are looking for additional volunteers to help us make this year’s T60 a success and help as many competitors achieve their challenge of 60 miles along the Thames Path.
If you can help, by offering support or manning a checkpoint then please get in touch.  T60 is a special event run from Radley nr Abingdon through to the stone marker at the source of the Thames taking in the route of the iconic Thames Path.  The Race starts at 20:00Hrs on Saturday 24th of June and finishes at 16:00Hrs on Sunday 25th.
Please feel free to pass this email on to anyone who might be interested.  We are also looking for additional volunteers for T184 in August, so if you can help with either please call or email the T-Series team.
