Club Update and training Plans for the Week Of Saturday 1st July

Happy July Everyone!

Massive congratulations to Steve B who still took part in the Cotswold 226 last weekend (despite a very injured foot).  He swam, he biked.. and then he packed up and went home!   But his swim time of 28 minutes was 4th fastest in his age group and his bike time was under 6 hours (5th fastest)… awesome!

This weekend it’s all going on here in Standlake – with the village market on Saturday (11am-1pm Standlake village Hall).  and the FETE on sunday (12-4pm on the recreation ground).  Hope to see you all out and about!

Next weekend (Sunday 9th July)  it is the FOSS kids duathlon (run/bike/run):

10am at the Primary school.  Jon and Tilllie have mastered the event and arranged a challenging race in 5 age groups from Under 4’s right up to Over 10’s.  Do come along with the children and the bikes.. or just come along to support (and help the kids in transition) it’d be lovely to see lots of you there.

It’s also time to start the 16 week marathon training plan.  This is to be ready for the Abingdon Marathon on October… but whether you are entered for the marathon this year, or not.. why not challenge yourselves and join us in training.

Each week I will post a weekly plan in addition to the normal Club Training times that are at the end of this update.  PLEASE NOTE EARLIER RUN TIME ON SATURDAY MORNING:

The Marathon Training Schedule:   I have chosen Martin Yelling’s FIRST-TIME FINISHER 16-WEEK MARATHON SCHEDULE

Club Update and Training Plans for the week of Saturday 10th June

Tonight is the TriHards social evening and BBQ.. at the Standlake Village Hall at 6.30pm… with outdoor games… and dancing … Please bring a pudding or a salad and something to drink!  This is instead of the normal circuit training.

It’s a great night to celebrate the happenings of last weekend:

Firstly at Blenheim Triathlon,   Emma finished in 1 hour 30 mins and 13 secs.. and, having checked the results this morning, I am proud to announce that I have been moved to the Female45-49 age category!! This means that I am now 7th in my age group (as opposed to being 14th in the F40-44 category) – never did I think I would feel happy about being a year older!  Well done also to Steven Miles who completed in 2 hours 10 minutes – with an awesome 15 minutes swim time.

Then there was the 113 (half Iron man distance) last Sunday.  The Trihard Team of Ash, Graeme C and Andy G came in TRIHARD first!  Ash was first out of the water in his wave, graeme stormed the bike and Andy cruised the run and they finished in 4 hours 45 minutes and were 8th Relay team.

Steve Bright was a machine and finished in 4 hours 53 minutes – he smashed the 5 hours and finished with a roar.  Then came Dave R in 5 hours and 3 minutes, looking calm and relaxed and like he can easily break the 5 hours next year.   Jon H and Andy T finished together in a eye watering 5 hours 21 minutes… and Jon is happy that he has got faster in transition. For Sean and Andy T, is was their first half iron distance and they both looked like they enjoyed it, with Sean coming in 5 hours 35 mins.  Wai looked relieved to finish in 5 hours 57 minutes… exactly matching her time from last year – an amazing result.  And then there was the ladies relay team… Jo absolutely stormed the swim ( and didn’t wear a wet suit) and Jen powered through the run… Emma got a puncture on the bike course.. and despite managing to attract help from two marshals… was still stuck on the road side for 15 minutes!  The team finished in 5 hours 52 (but do you think we can call it 5 hours 37?).

Training plans for the week ahead are below; have a wonderful weekend what ever you are doing.

Club Update and training Plans for the week of Saturday 3rd June

Happy June everyone!

This Posting has just been edited as I had forgotten that this Friday (9th June) is not the normal circuit training at 6.30.. but is, instead, the social evening and BBQ.. at the Village Hall at 6.30pm as normal… with outdoor games… Please bring a pudding or a salad and something to drink! (Training plans below have been updated)

Congratulations everyone who took part in the Westonbirt Triathlon last weekend. Steve brought the trihards home in style coming fourth in his age group and completing in 1 hour 11 minutes.  Dave R was not far behind (1:16), closely followed by Sean (1:19), Andy G (1:22), Emma (1:23) and Wai (1:24).  Jon, Tilly and Sarah’s relay team smashed it – Sarah conquering the 25km bike once again and Tilly running a brilliant 5km.   Everyone got a PB despite the relentless rain!  All the training has paid off and it bodes well for this weekend:

Good Luck all the Blenheim Triathloners this weekend.  Emma and Ita go off on Saturday afternoon and Steven M goes off on Sunday… have a brilliant race everyone…. and then it’s the 113 (half Iron man distance) on Sunday.  Good luck to Andy T and Sean P(first timers on a half Iron distance), Steve B, Dave R, Jon H, Wai and Celina.  There is also the battle of the sexes for our two relay teams: With Andy G, Ash and Graeme C racing head to head with Jo A, Emma and Jen R!  Who will take Trihard relay glory!?

Training plans for the week ahead are below;

Reminder that there is NO Circuits this evening due to the Black sheep/pink sheep match at the Cricket club this evening.

There’s also coffee and cake and bacon sandwiches tomorrow morning at the Village Market (Standlake Village Hall 11am – 1pm)

Have a wonderful weekend what ever you are doing.
