Half way through December and a massive congratulations if you are keeping up with the  MARCOTHON…Well done to everyone who has taken on this personal challenge:  Run 3 miles or 25 minutes everyday in December… Keep it going even on Christmas day!

Last weekend the Oxford Santa Sprint was cancelled due to the fabulous dump of snow!  In true TriHard style, we staged our own event in the village!  Well done to everyone who made it out in the snow for a festive run/dog walk.  It was lovely to see you all there!

Friday 15th December is the last Circuit Training before Christmas – please do come along at 6.30pm in the Standlake Village hall for some festive fun!

Talking of 2018 – the West Oxfordshire Sailing Club are organising the New Year Splash – head to the swimming lake at 11am on the 1st January for the first dip of the year.

Please note that the 7am Saturday run is now changing to 7.30 for the winter months so it is not quite so dark!

Hope to see you out and about this week as the pavements get run-able again!

This weekend is the Oxford Santa Sprint –Sunday 10th December…The race starts at 9am on Broad Street.  So TriHards will meet at 8.45am by the railings of the Sheldonian Theatre in front of the warm up stage! Hope to see you there.

Well done all the kids who took part in the Eynsham 1 mile last weekend.  Izzy Todeschinni was 2nd overall, with Henry Welch (4th), Jake Bourke (5th), Zac Bandali (6th), Eddie Archibald (9th) and Leif Andreasen (10th) – so 6 standlake kids in the top 10.. it was a great turn out from TriHard kids with 25 of us taking part in total.. Ebony Lockwood was the youngest (aged only 5 years) and she ran the mile 8 minutes and 57 seconds… taking after her Mum!

Firstly a reminder that Friday 17th is the The annual TriHard award night from 6.30pm – 9pm in the Cricket Club (Abingdon Road Standlake) – please do come along and bring a plate of food to share, the bar will be open… THERE IS NO CIRCUIT TRAINING! 

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to Steve Bright and the Witney Better Team who won their age group in the swimming Nationals last week… They brought home a lovely trophy!

Good Luck this weekend Steve Bright in the swimming Nationals… Steve is swimming in a relay and we hope you all swim like fish and come home with a medal!

Saturday 4th November  was the  10km Rough Run in aid of cancer research on the 4th November.  It was a Tough 10k – and it was a great trail run with some very steep slopes and lots of mud.  Kirsty triumphed and came third lady in 50 minutes.  Andy was not far behind in 51 minutes… then Dave R in 26 minutes.  Tom ran his first ever 10k and he did enjoy it… and we completed in 58 minutes… which was brilliant as we were really pacing it to come in in under the hour.  Well done everyone.

Club Update and Training Plans for a fortnight! From Sat 14th Oct

This Update will cover training plans for two weeks from Saturday 14th October to Friday 27th.  I am away on holiday next week so there will be no club update on Friday 20th October.

Firstly congratulations to all runners in the Oxford Half marathon last weekend…  Andy set off at a cracking pace which gave both him (1 hour 42:33) and me (1 hour 37:53) personal bests.. and Celina and Laura finished 10 seconds apart – both coming in at their target sub 2 hour times of 1 hour 58… It was a brilliant morning, very well organised and lots of great entertainment on the way round.  A must again for next year!

It’s week SIXTEEN… It’s Marathon week!  Race day is Sunday 22nd October… so it’s a TAPER Week.  The week running up to race day should involve two short runs and plenty of hydration and good nutrition!: 

Week 16:

Day 1: Rest

Day 2: 30 minute easy run (run at below your race pace)

Day 3 Rest

Day 4:   22 minute run: Start 5 minute easy run then move to 12 minutes of your race pace, then finish on an easy run.

Day 5 and day 6 rest.  Day 7: RACE!!!!

It’s week fifteen of the MARATHON TRAINING!  Only two weeks to go! You want to be fresh on Race Day so start to take it easy this week…

Week 15:

Day 1: Rest

Day 2: 30 minute easy run (run at below your race pace)

Day 3 Rest

Day 4:   50 minute run: Start 10 minute easy run then move to 20 minutes of your race pace, then run 10 minutes at a faster pace then cool it back down to an easy run.

Day 5 and day 6 rest

Day 7: 70 minute easy run.
